I was just searching for some stickers (snowflakes)that I have used many times before and now they aren't free anymore....what is happening??? Is SB going to start charging for the stickers that have always been free??? I really hate to see this. I have no problem with the stores and the designers charging for their work....but to take things that were free and start charging for them has me worried. One of the reasons I have told so many people about SB is that you can create something great without spending money. I know SB has to make money too...but surely the sale of printed books and the designer stores would be the way to go. Please tell me this isn't going to get worse!!
I noticed the pricing of very old stickers which used to be free too... I did know that prices would change, but it seems to be happening more frequently... We all love SB. But some stuff is priced a bit salty, like letters, for example....each one is 10 credits...we need a lot of money for a whole alpha...
And, Sally, I'm afraid that, in the times we live, it's more than likely that it will get worse... :(
I LOVE SB, no doubt...but I'm thinking seriously on buying a program.... I get too tempted on buying more & more credits here...and cannot spend much more now :(
I hate to say it, but starting to charge for so much of the old stickers, etc would be enough to make me leave SB. I love it here but I just can't justify paying for things that I use. Now a membership that was reasonably priced might work for me, but so far I haven't had to buy anything in all of the SB's I have made. I promised myself in the beginning that I wouldn't spend MORE money since I have spent so much for my "real" scrapbooks....LOL!! I am probably just the kind of member that SB doesn't want....but I have told so many people about SB that surely that has been a benefit to them. I hate to see this starting to happen, but I do understand that they have to make money to continue....just wish they would charge for NEW stuff and not our old stickers that we are used to being able to use for free.
oh no! im not aloud to buy stuff from sb & i might have to go when there is no more free stickers:( i dont want to! but maybe they can keep the stickers that are free free, & maybe add a couple new free ones but the newest ones dont make them free. just an idea
I agree with you, Hawaiigirl....I am totally happy with the things that have been free all along. And I can understand that SB needs to make money. Adding the designer stores and charging for anything new just makes sense...but please, please, please leave us our free stuff. I have found snowflakes and flourishes (swirlies?) that were free are now 10 and 20 credits. I haven't had a chance to check on everything, but I had about 10 pages of tagged stickers that I like and about three pages of those are now no longer free. And I know that I can go back to older SB's and pick up pages from them....but that is even more time-consuming!! So I am hoping that SB will hear our plea and stop charging for things that were free before. Sally
i actually noticed this when SB first opened the marketplace. There was a really cute halloween theme, i used last year. Went to check something on it...and found out it now cost credits. I don't think they have changed anything else since the marketplace went live. I think this was a one time occurence. and no one else has looked for winter stuff (except crazy holiday loving me!) but here's the great thing, since i used that Halloween theme last year, i know own it! Tracy
They must have just made some more stickers start costing credits, I tagged a bunch just a couple of weeks ago and now a lot of those are no longer free. And maybe I have some of them in older SB's but still wish they would make them free like they used to be. It makes sense to charge for anything new...but I hate to know that things might not be free from one time to the next!!
I think more people will look elsewhere for free stickers (I often use MS clipart)or use some other desktop publishing software to design their pages and then import those to 'Scrapblog' rather than paying out for stickers which were once free. I think a one-off subscription will eventually be the way to go but I'm worried that, in the end, basic things like photo storage may cost money. It would be sad if we lost our pictures (and the scrapblogs) if we didn't pay!
Sally, though I'm with you (and everyone else) I have to admit that THEY TOLD US IN THE BEGINNING of the Market Place: NOT TO TAG stickers as FREE, because things couyld change, stickers that once were priced could become free and vice-versa.
I more than anyone understand that they need to make their money, and Scrapblog is a program without rival in the net, so I would be more than happy to pay, if things are reasonable and make sense. I can say the SB books are WELL WORTH THE MONEY they charge, God knows these books I have printed are treasurable, but in there the delivery system & prices are excesive for me. I have bought credits in the Market Place not once or twice, but several times too....because it is easier than trying to use my PNGs here...though I buy FULL kits in the online stores at a much cheaper price than the Market Place offers here.... I'm not demanding that they do not charge.... Scrapblog is an amazing program, the very best, I will be happy to pay...but the way it s going I m not able to afford it. Every time I buy credits I buy the 1000 credits because it's more convenient than 500, as my card isnt a credit card, is a pay as you go one which will charge per transaction...so it's cheaper for me to get them more in one go.... So: 1000 credits are 25U$ right? I have just bought a program that, though it is, I'm afraid, not as marvelous as SB, does most of what SB does... and it cost me U$57.... pretty much what I would pay for buying stickers here twice.... The program comes with quiet a lot of papers (backgrounds) and elements and one can use PNG's without having to create an account in Photobucket, which is great for me. I LOVE SCRAPBLOG, the team is great, the program is amazing, I wont stop using it...but soon they will have to find a way to make it more accessible, instead of making it less.... The membership is something we have been talking about for a while, and I think in the long run they will get a lot more people to keep using Sb than the way things are right now.... :(
It is unfortunate that the exchange rates make buying credits so expensive for members in other countries. And then the problems with ordering books when the shipping is so expensive...not a good thing either! I would go for a reasonably priced membership, but as I said...I have spent so much on my "real" scrapbooks that my attraction to SB was because it was free. And I totally agree with you about the quality of the books they print...they are absolutely beautiful!!
I have just been creating one of the wipe-off calendars from a tut on the blog...and wanted to use the alphabet that is on the stamps. As far as I know it has always been free. So I grab each one of the initials for the months...and couldn't find the "O"...guess what, it now costs credits!! Just that one letter...don't understand why??? This is very aggravating!! I hope the changes they are talking about will improve this situation.
Thats sad... im not aloud to buy stuff on the computer & it makes me feel sad that we have to pay for free ones! keep the old free ones free & the new ones cost money. now & then add some new free ones:((((
I've just checked the 'FEEDBACK' topics and this 'free vs. paid for' debate has been started there as well. Some of you might like to put your viewpoints there for more coverage! Different people seem to use both forums -if you see what I mean! The point on 'FEEDBACK' is being discussed under 'Why all the changes?' -or something similar.
I still can't get into the FEEDBACK & gave up trying! I really don't like the FEEDBACK & if I decide to stay on Scrapblog, I will only use the Forum! Love ya all!
If you remember using a sticker before, try saving the new SB that you are working in, go to an old SB that has the sticker by clicking on File-Open and selecting the SB you want. Right click copy on your sticker then click File Open again and open the new SB that you were making and see if you can right click past. I have used this method before, but not for stickers that have changed price status. I don't know if it will work, but it is worth a try.
Hi Everybody, I just started to try to teach my 7 yo daughter to use SB...It is not easy for her to look through all stickers and check if it is free or not, couse I do not want her to buy credits yet:)
Malk, if you will click on "Least Credits" up by the search bar then it will show the free stickers first. That is....if there are any free stickers left...LOL!! I do wish they had left the free ones alone and just charged for new ones to make money.
I have an existing SB and half way through another. I've used the site to create cards, birth announcements and have also refered friends. I've had the same problem with old stickers and backgrounds that were free some how mysteriously started chargin'. I love the site and the free options, however I think that if they were free, free they shall remain. I would totally purchase credits in the future and do more with the site if I'm able to create without running into this problem. As far as the costs go, the amount of money isn't too bad, but the amount of credits is rather wacko. For that, I could do it myself...on paper. So...whatever, glad to see people are having the same qualms as I am and wish there was some way around it. I suppose I can get pictures online, save them as pictures and use them as BG and stickers.
Hi, So... After all that being said above, Is SB going to be only a payed one or not? Are there going to be free stuff or is everything going to be charged?
