I got some .png files from one of the Digifree sites (just found out on here how to use them)and most of them work beautifully. But some of them, mostly the horizontal ribbons but some others too, just never sharpen up when I try to use them. Has anyone else had this problem and maybe come up with a solution? These are really beautiful files and I really want to be able to use them.
    Thanks...

Sometimes the elements will appear blurry, at first. I think this is because they haven't downloaded entirely to Scrapblog's builder???? If you wait a couple of minutes, they'll evenutally sharpen up!

    Hope this helps!

Thanks Karen...I am just discovering the use of .png files and really like the flexibility...especially with being able to make my own titles! I had noticed that they take longer to clear up. But it seems there are some that don't sharpen up no matter how long I leave them...guess I will keep trying since usually they are my favotites...go figure...LOL!!
    Thanks for the help...

I always use the png stickers and love them, they are free easy to use and download quickly....mine always look bright as you will see in my scrapblogs, be patient and maybe some of the ones you are downloading are not as good as others although I have not come across this....will have to have a look at your site...take care...annie

That is just what I thought, Annie....but some of the ones that never clear up are in the same group as ones that do just fine. Very strange. But I'll keep trying, especially since some are ones I really want to use!!

I tried reloading the one I most wanted to use...still no luck. The picture is perfect on Photobucket, but when I put it on a page in my SB, it never sharpens up. I left it for at least 15 minutes...no good. Arrrgghhh!
Thanks for looking at my SB's!

I am just learning about png files. How do you import them into Scrapblog. Help-I want to use them!

Once you have them on your computer, you have to upload them to a photo sharing site...they are listed at the top of the window in Scapblog where you upload your pictures...Photobucket, Picasa, etc. Once you have them on there you grab them for your SB just like a video. They look like stickers, but you get them under the "Get Photos". The difference is that Scrapblog just grabs them from the website, it doesn't actually upload them. So once you have used them, they have to stay on the photo site or the link will be broken.

When I first tried I didn't understand about putting them in Photobucket first...so I couldn't get them to work. Now that I can use them I am hanging out at Digifree ALL the time...LOL!!

If you need any more help, be sure to ask...someone will answer.
    Good luck...

You can also create titles in your photo editing program, save as a .PNG and then do this same process to use them. This is neat because then you have the shadow option as well as the Opacity control, unlike the text on SB...and you can size them as big as you need. I did that for the titles on my "Claim to Fame" and "Memories of Family" SB's.

Sorry...I don't know how to do that....have you looked in your help files under "layers" or "Transparent"? I have only used text for titles and the png files from Digifree. Maybe Karen can help you with this.

More about PNG in this tutorial on SBlog, by WildlifeBio:
    http://www.scrapblog.com/viewer/viewer.aspx?sbid=729633

To make a PNG from your picture, use an image processor like Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, the Gimp, etc.
Erase around the shape you want to keep and save as PNG (24 bits).
It is a little like using the crop tools in SBlog.
When done, upload your PNGs to Photobucket or Picasa.
Then use "get photo" from SBlog and they will appear in the Builder.
Drag them on your page and remove the border if necessary.
Read the tutorial above and all should be well! Hope it helps...

    Sally,
after you posted the problem with the PNGs, I had a look at the way I do them.... you can try this:

when you drag the PNG to the builder, just drag it and dont do absolutely nothing, just wait, dont click anywhere in the builder, don't take away the border line...do nothing for a few minutes, see if it works...
I realized that when I do something it takes far longer to sharpen...

now, could you try to download the PNG into Photobucket again?
the ones that wont work, I mean...maybe somewhere along the line the file got corrupted?
because I do have the problem that they take long to sharpen, not even only that, but Photobucket takes ages to show the files when I want to select....that s why I buy from Scrapblog.... it's far easier...
but thing is: Alphas in Scrapblog (letters) are incredibly expensive, and some of the freebies from Digifree are spectacular..... so I armed myself with patience....
    I hope this helps....
    :)

Thanks so much for your advice!! I did try reloading the .png file to Photobucket and then again to SB...still won't sharpen. Yet, when I look at it in PB or my photo editing program it is nice and sharp. So I don't think the original file was bad. I will try it again and after I drag it on the page just wait a long time and not do anything else. I will let you know if that works for me.
    Thanks again...

OK, fingers crossed :) I know how frustrating it can be....
Now, I'm not sure if you read it, biut I have made my PB account public, so, if you would like to use any of my PNGs, you can....
either go to search for people (I'm mrspeel-latina) or, when you have the builder open, click on PB to retrieve pics, and in the search space type PNG
my files should come up, I have tagged all only as PNG....
    Hope it helps :)

and, now tell you what am gonna do, am gonna go look at your SB page! rare ocassion like this with me with time in my hands!
    :)

Thank you for sharing this information I Have been trying to upload some pirate stickers as I wanted them to be transparent

    Re: Mrs. Peels Question:

"do you know how to create a transparent layer?
I have photoshop elements and I m sure I could create my own stickers but cant figure out how to work the layers :( "

    Here is what I found:

    "Here's exactly how:
After you've created a new document:
Shift-Ctrl-N (or from the menu: Layer, new, layer), make sure the background is set to "none" (default).
Then (using the layer palette) click and drag the layer called "background" into the little trash icon at the bottom of the palette."

    I got this from:
    http://yedda.com/questions/create_transparent_layer_graphic_5182121516149/

I also think since you use a Mac that you will do "command" instead of "control" but I could be wrong.

    Hope it helps, Cynthia

PNG files do not upload to the builder like photos. You have to use the code on Picasa when you use them. Sort of like using videos. You give the builder (photo uploader) access to your Picasa site, then it will pick your PNG file up just like it picks up videos. The actual file stays there on Picasa.

I think someone can probably tell you in better detail than this...it has been a while since I have done this so I don't remember exactly.

You can also upload your PNGS to Photobucket and the give Scrapblog permission to use your Photobucket and then they will be put into your photos tray but also stay on your Photobucket account.

I hope this all makes since.

    Hi Nbarnich!
When you say "where to get free PNG images", do you mean the "digifree" website or something else?
I dont use Picasa only Photobucket, so I could only show how to get them from there.

J.Luck: you are correct: free images form web sites like digifree; and Photobucket is fine: the method is the same for Picasa.
Would you have a go? That woud be great ;-)

This was such a great find!! I also tried it on some "digital paper" I bought from Scrapgirls. There are two differences.

    1. the paper comes as 12x12, which is problematic in the scrapblog format. I opened the .jpeg files in Photoshop and resized them to 100% wide and only 67% high. This is the ratio of the pages on scrapblog. I selected resize then scale and un-checked the box "Constrain Proportions". This allowed Photoshop to compress the file so I didn't lose any of the paper design on the top or bottom

I could also have just cropped the paper to 100% x 67%, but some papers had design elements at the edges.

Be sure to save the edited file as a .png.

    2. After you upload from Photobucket or Picassa and you want to use the file as a background, you need to open a new, blank page. Choose the file and then stretch it to fit the page - be sure to turn off any border or shadow feature. Now you can add on top of this nice background. If you start with a page that already has a frame or pictures on it, and all you want to do is change the background it doesn't work very well. Scrapblog sees this as a picture and will replace any existing pictures with the "new" picture, that you wanted to be a background.

So - go ahead and use the digital paper you have purchased - I was thrilled to have a wider variation of papers.
